Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Business Analyst/ Data Consultant with expertise in data management, business intelligence, and data pipelines, particularly Microsoft technologies to deliver impactful solutions in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Based in Toronto, this role requires strong technical proficiency, SQL and database management, data analytics and statistics, and data visualization tools, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will design and implement data pipeline and transformation processes and develop reporting solutions that align with business needs while ensuring system scalability, security, and performance. Acting as a key technical member in the growing Digital Asset Management practice group in Canada, the individual will bridge the gap between data-driven solutions and client requirements.

This position offers a hybrid work model with opportunities to collaborate remotely and on-site at client offices, as needed, while working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. Role accountabilities:

• Data Warehousing (On-premise, cloud and hybrid): Design and manage SQL Server Database Engine environments, including data warehouses, data quality services, and PolyBase Query Service for external data integration.
• ETL Development (On-premise, cloud and hybrid): Develop and optimize ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Informatica ETL to streamline data transformation and migration.
• Dashboard & Reporting (On-premise, cloud and hybrid): Create interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Report Server, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Report Builder tailored to diverse audiences.
• Advanced Analytics: Utilize tools with R, Python, and F# to support data modeling and advanced analytics initiatives.
• Data Modeling: Implement multidimensional and tabular models using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for robust data architecture.
• Database Optimization: Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database performance.
• Business Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business and I&IT requirements, ensuring alignment with technical solutions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of code control, code and system change management, team development tools, Waterfall and Agile development methods and tools, database scripting, MS Power Apps, automated code builds, and automated deployment.
• Training and Support: Provide technical training, guidance, and ongoing support for external clients on data-driven solutions and maintenance activities.
• Documentation: Produce high-quality documentation, including process models, use cases, design documents, testing plans, and technical reports.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 
• Experience: 7+ years of experience in business analysis, BI solution development, and IT consulting within I&IT environments.
• ETL Expertise: Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Informatica ETL, and Azure Data Factory for data migration and transformation.
• Database Management: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (data modelling, T-SQL, stored procedures and triggers) and SQL Server Analysis Services.
• BI Tools: Particularly, proficiency in Power BI (Desktop, Report Builder, Report Server, DAX, Power Query, Gateway, APIs, Security) and Cognos (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Query Studio).
• Analytics: Experience with R, Python, and F# tools for data analytics and modeling.
• Methodologies: Working experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies and the software development lifecycle (SDLC), Azure DevOps (including Boards, Repos, Pipelines, and Test Plans).
• Experience in spatial data management and familiar with GIS tools will be considered an asset.
• Experience working with Canadian public sector agencies will be considered an asset.
• Experience working in proposal development will be considered an asset.

The salary range for this position is $78,000-$117,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
