SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The Power BI Specialist plays a crucial role in efficiently transforming data into actionable insights and driving informed decision-making across the organization. This individual will collaborate with various departments to develop, deploy, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to specific business needs. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently with limited oversight, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and data-driven innovation. This role also offers an exciting opportunity to leverage advanced Excel capabilities to automate manual processes, streamline data preparation, and enhance reporting efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with all business departments to understand business requirements and translate them into effective Power BI and Excel-based solutions.

• Design, develop, and implement Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that provide meaningful insights and drive data-driven decision-making.

• Leverage advanced Excel functions, including Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, and macros, to automate workflows, prepare datasets, and support reporting needs.

• Utilize advanced data modeling techniques to optimize data structures and ensure the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of Power BI and Excel-based solutions.

• Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, Excel, and cloud services, to create comprehensive data models for analysis.

• Implement best practices for data visualization and storytelling to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of Power BI and Excel solutions to ensure accuracy, performance, and scalability.

• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of BI solutions within existing systems and infrastructure.

• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to Power BI, Excel automation, and business intelligence to continually enhance expertise and drive innovation.

• Provide training and support to end-users to promote self-service analytics and maximize the utilization of Power BI and Excel automation tools across the organization.

• Maintain documentation, standards, and guidelines for BI development and usage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Good communication skills and working well with people are essential.

• Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in designing and developing Power BI solutions.

• Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power Query, DAX, and M Query for data transformation and modeling.

• Strong proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience querying, transforming, and analyzing data from relational databases; essential for building reliable Power BI and Excel-based solutions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA, and complex formulas, with demonstrated experience in automating data preparation and reporting processes.

• Experience in data visualization best practices, including chart selection, color theory, and dashboard layout design.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable insights.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Certified: Power BI are a plus.

• Experience with other business intelligence tools and technologies, such as Tableau, QlikView, or Looker, is desirable but not required.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience in Power BI development, data analysis, or a similar business intelligence role.
