Thales’ Innovation Team in Canada is looking for a talented engineer with a great appetite to solve complex challenges, applying software engineering  to  critical  AI  projects.  The  team  aims  to  design  and  implement  cutting-edge  solutions  by  incorporating  safe,  robust, trustworthy, and certifiable AI capabilities.

Essential Functions / Fonctions essentielles

An Innovation and Applied AI Engineer is responsible for discovering, developing and integrating innovative methodologies to address complex  challenges  in  these  fields  and  to  translate  related  concepts  into  Thales  solutions.  He/she  proves  their  viability  through  the implementation  of  Proofs  of  Concept  (PoCs)  and  guides  their  maturity  growth  through  prototypes  and  demonstrators  that  will  in  turn illustrate and enable their full business potential.

Un Ingénieur en Innovation et IA applique est chargé de découvrir, de développer et d'intégrer des méthodologies innovantes pour relever des défis complexes dans ces domaines et de traduire les concepts connexes en solutions Thales. Il/elle prouve leur viabilité à travers la mise en œuvre de preuves de concept (PoC) et guide leur croissance en maturité à travers des prototypes et des démonstrateurs qui illustreront à leur tour et permettront leur plein potentiel commercial.

AI/Innovation Engineer Key Responsibilities:
• Research  and  develop  innovative  solutions  to  validate  and  verify  the  robustness  of  AI  and  diverse  technologies  for  real applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate research advances into deployable prototypes and production-ready systems.
• Work on problems of diverse scope to support the deployment of reliable and certifiable AI models.
• Contribute to the innovation ecosystem by proposing new innovation ideas and keeping an active technology watch.
• Intellectual property: systematic approach to protecting our intellectual property through patents
• Communication: knowledge sharing with other teams, suggest, collect, and synthesize system requirements from stakeholders and contribute to shaping effective research and innovation roadmaps.

Responsabilisés clés du Ingénieur IA/Innovation:
• Effectuer  des  études  techniques  et  développer  des  solutions  innovantes  pour  valider  et vérifier  la  robustesse  des  nouvelles technologies IA et autres pour des applications réelles.
• Collaborer  avec  des  équipes  d'ingénieurs  interfonctionnelles  pour  traduire  les  avancées de  la  recherche  en  prototypes déployables et en systèmes prêts pour la production.
• Travailler sur des problèmes de portée diverse pour soutenir le déploiement de modèles d'IA fiables et certifiables
• Contribution à l’écosystème d’innovation en proposant de nouvelles idées d’innovation et faisant une veille technologique active
• Propriété intellectuelle: approche systématique à la protection de notre propriété intellectuelle au travers de brevets
• Communication: Le partage des connaissances avec d'autres équipes, suggèrent, collectez et synthétisez les exigences du système des parties prenantes et contribuent à façonner des feuilles de route efficaces de recherche et d'innovation.

Minimum Requirements / Exigences minimales

• Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science

• 2 to 5 years of experience in Software Development

• Solid theoretical knowledge and understanding of AI fundamentals.

• Solid Skills:

o front-end and back-end software development (TypeScript, Golang, NodeJs, C#, etc. ...)

o Cloud ecosystem and architecture (Docker, Google Cloud, etc.....)

• Critical thinker with ability to communicating scientific work in a clear and effective manner.

• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively and strategically.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and dissemination of research.

• Fluency in English (spoken and written).

This position requires a good knowledge of English for writing technical documents, interacting with, supporting, and/or providing services to international clients, employees, and/or partners, as well as foreign government authorities who do not speak French.

• Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en informatique

• 2 à 5 ans d'expérience dans le développement de logiciels

• Solide connaissance théorique et compréhension des fondamentaux de l'IA.

• Compétences solides:

o Développement des logiciels frontaux et back-end (TypeScript, Golang, NodeJs, c #, etc....)

o Écosystème et architecture du cloud (Docker, Google Cloud, etc....)

• Penseur critique avec la capacité de communiquer des travaux scientifiques de manière claire et efficace.

• Excellentes compétences en résolution de problèmes avec la capacité de penser de manière créative et stratégique.

• Excellentes compétences en communication et au travail d'équipe.

• Solides compétences en communication écrite et verbale pour une collaboration efficace et une diffusion de la recherche.

• Fluence en anglais (parlé et écrit).

Ce poste requiert une bonne connaissance de l'anglais pour la rédaction de documents techniques, pour interagir, soutenir et/ou fournir des services à des clients, employés et/ou partenaires internationaux ainsi qu’à des autorités gouvernementales étrangères qui ne parlent pas français.
