Quantitative Strategists

Quantitative Strategists collaborate with portfolio managers and clients to address complex financial and technical challenges. We develop analytical tools to help portfolio managers and clients understand portfolio risk and return. This includes creating interactive dashboards and portfolio construction tools that enable users to analyze and optimize investment strategies. Quantitative Strategists own investment analytics calculation engines, models for return and risk, and the portfolio management platform.

 

Responsibilities

As a member of the MAS Digital Strats team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying scalable systems for portfolio analysis to improve transparency and customizability of sophisticated investment strategies.

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Proprietary Infrastructure and Library Development: Contribute to building and developing infrastructure and libraries that leverage proprietary quantitative models to perform portfolio calculations, enhance portfolio construction, and track portfolio positioning and risk over time.
  • Full-Stack Solution Development: Design, test, and deploy robust full-stack solutions for portfolio analysis. This includes designing APIs, building user interfaces, and managing data pipelines and caching layers.
  • Production System Management: Develop and maintain sustainable production systems that can adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Partner globally across multiple divisions and engineering teams. Prioritize competing problems and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. Collaborate with other engineers and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Manage other engineers, supporting their training, creative development and architectural decisions.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field with quantitative analytics/research or financial modeling experience
  • Passion to learn about portfolio construction techniques and foundational mathematical concepts in investment analytics
  • Strong fundamentals in design, algorithms, and data structures
  • Ability to implement coding solutions to quantitative problems, experience in developing finance and statistics-based applications, and proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Python, TypeScript or JavaScript
  • Ability to multitask, work in a team environment, prioritize work, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand the business problems we need to solve · Strong understanding of mathematical concepts is a plus, including probability and statistics, time series analysis, regression analysis, forecasting, optimization, machine learning and other numerical techniques
  • Self-motivation to deliver technological solutions in a dynamic business environment
