Role Summary and Purpose  

• Research and analyse data for contingency team to support underwriting capabilities on a risk by risk and portfolio basis. 

• Develop management information (MI) to provide visibility of the contingency underwriting account and provide insight to the underwriters to improve profitability of the portfolio. 

• Complete project work to provide underwriters with tools to more accurately and more quickly price risks. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities  

• Perform important data research function to support team decision making. 

• Build functional databases and underwriter interface to allow service driven, consistent underwriting across the team.  

• Liaise with actuarial team to develop underwriting models for key sub-classes. 

• Ensure data is maintained and updated. 

• Help build a market leading team based on quality of underwriting and high service levels. 

Role Requirements & Skills 

Skills / Competencies 

• Excellent data mining and research capabilities across of wide range of topics 

• Competent with Power BI 

• Strong knowledge of database structures and front-end user interfaces for interrogation 

• Actuarial training or competency would be important. Accuracy and eye for detail 

• Strong understanding of excel and other similar tools. 

• Good personality and the ability to communicate easily with people 

• Likes to be challenged  

Qualifications 

•  Degree level 

•  A-Levels 

Experience 

• Insurance background 

• Research/data analytics as part of work role
