Description

Our Team We are growing our data team to enable UKTV to optimise its digital transformation and maximise our opportunities to grow our business. We work to deliver insights, analytics and data to understand our audiences, power our advertising and marketing.  We have laid the foundations and are looking to expand our team to champion our customers by using data to make decisions across the business. This is a role where you will have a real opportunity to influence the data strategy of UKTV. You will also be involved in embedding a new data stack alongside our parent company, BBC Studios.   Purpose of the role  The Lead Analyst will play a major part in determining how we implement and develop our data strategy. They will bring expertise which will enable our colleagues to use data more effectively when making decisions, provide greater understanding of our audiences and utilise new technologies.  In this role you will get to: 
  • Lead a team of 4 analysts. 
  • Work with a wide range of departments across UKTV, supporting the delivery of our digital products, marketing, broadcast TV and our targeted advertising  
  • Contribute to developing a data culture within UKTV and BBC Studios 

What we would like you to bring to the role….key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities

Experience: 
  • Substantial experience managing a team of analysts 
  • Proven experience in working with digital analytics (e.g. Adobe Analytics, GA360) and tag management, as well as working with data engineering teams to deliver analytics.. 
  • Able to simplify complex problems into component parts and deal with them systematically 
  • Able to effectively delegate, manage your own time and prioritise accordingly often working on multiple projects simultaneously  
  • Able to develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders and manage their needs. Adept at collaborating across departments 
  • Able to communicate effectively using both technical and non-technical language as appropriate to stakeholders at all levels.  
  • Strong attention to detail, great critical thinking skills and ability to work under pressure 
 Knowledge: 
  • Strong knowledge of A/B testing, statistics and wider measurement & data analysis methodologies.  
  • Knowledge of the broadcast, streaming and advertising industries including competitors 
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and analytics platforms such as Snowflake and AWS 
 Skills: 
  • Significant experience in using one or more scripting languages (e.g. SQL, R, Python) to analyse consumer behaviour 
  • Experience in visualisation and BI tools such as Tableau, RShiny, Power BI or Looker 
  • Knowledge of working with data stacks, ad tech and martech, (particularly Customer Data Platforms and Data Clean Rooms.) 
  • Experience of agile and lean working and product development frameworks 

What you will get to work on….key outputs and responsibilities of the role

  • Lead and manage a team of 4 analysts, providing direction, support, and guidance to ensure high-quality work. 
  • Work with our product teams to guide the development A/B testing frameworks supervise the implementation and management of A/B testing software – and to ensure (digital) analytics are embedded into their ways of working across product strategy, development and QA testing. 
  • Responsible for leading initiatives for analytics & visualisation. This will include delivery of dashboards, training for digital analytics, statistical methods, Tableau and any other tools shared beyond the data team.   
  • Develop and maintain a reporting framework to track KPIs, monitor business performance, and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Provide insights and data products to support decision-making across the business (Programming, Marketing, Product, Commercial, Finance) working in close collaboration with our Insight & Strategy teams. 
  • Collaborating with BBC Studios, particularly engineering teams, to ensure prompt delivery of our requirements as well as on wider group projects.  
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in digital analytics, analysis methods, data modelling, and visualization tools.
