Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one universityThe Van Doren Lab is looking for a Genomics Technician/Bioinformatician Research Data Analyst to join their team. This position involves both genomic library preparation as well as computational analysis of single-nucleus RNA sequencing data. The person is expected to be able to independently analyze sequencing data and is also expected to take on their own independent projects in the lab. The Research Data Analyst provides data analysis and related activities for various types of research projects and studies. This position will contribute to ongoing development, maintenance, and use of a research data pipeline that collects and analyzes data.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect data and generate reports and models.
- Run models, analyze model results, and prepare reports on the analysis.
- Conduct analyses in support of the assigned research project or study.
- Conduct statistical analyses utilizing standard and statistical software packages.
- Design and prepare tables to illustrate analytic findings.
- Manage or contribute to entry of data in the assigned database.
- May engage in other research related responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Supplemental Information
- Required to generate and computationally analyze genomics data sets, including RNAseq analysis.
- Utilize appropriate computational skills (e.g. R or python) for this analysis.
- Contribute to the rigorous statistical analysis of these data and generate high-quality biological conclusions.
- Troubleshoot both the âwet labâ aspects of library preparation and the âdry labâ aspects of the computational pipelines.
- Attend weekly group meetings and individual meetings and contribute to other jobs as required to maintain the lab in a functional state and improve overall function of the lab.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
