Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team to build products using Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision Language Models (VLMs). We are committed to advancing the field of artificial intelligence by making fundamental advances in technologies to help interact with and understand our world.

We are seeking individuals & recognized experts in NLP and Vision, with experience in areas like large model training; data collection pipelines; synthetic data; LLM alignment; model evaluation; image and video generation diffusion model; and/or responsible data processing who are also passionate about solving challenges that will accelerate our reach to human-level intelligence.

Candidates will have an opportunity through open-science & scalable engineering to enable state-of-the-art research-advances and innovate / apply their ideas at an unprecedented scale.Research Engineer, CoreML - FAIR Responsibilities
  • Collaborate, and execute on research that pushes forward the state of the art in large vision and language model research
  • Directly contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results
  • Develop methodology and benchmarks to evaluate different approaches
  • Work with a large and globally distributed team
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners including communicating research plans, progress, and results
  • Publish research results and contribute to research that impacts Meta product development
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
  • Post-Graduate experience holding an industry, academia, faculty, or government researcher position
  • Master's degree in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in NLP and Vision, such as large model training, data collection pipelines, synthetic data, LLM alignment, model evaluation, image and video generation diffusion model, and/or responsible data processing
  • Experience with Model-Training and executing complex experiments with scalable ML software & systems, using large models & datasets
  • Experience developing machine learning algorithms or machine learning infrastructure in Python
  • Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and different perspectives to determine a path forward
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, EMNLP, ACL, COLM, or similar
  • 2+ years of domain-specific industry experience in areas related to NLP and Vision, such as large model training, data collection pipelines, synthetic data, LLM alignment, model evaluation, image and video generation diffusion model, and/or responsible data processing

$56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
