SDU Robotics, part of theĀ Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for several fully funded 1-year Research Assistant positions, where the candidate will work on a project within the area of medical A, robotics, and sensing technology.Ā The starting date is October 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafterĀ and will be agreed with the successful candidate. Project description

We are currently extending the team working on theĀ AirCare project which focuses on robotics, biomedical sensor and AI algorithm for cancer diagnosis.

This project aims to develop a miniaturized robot and bio-sensor for on-site laryngeal cancer diagnosis. The candidate can contribute to one of the following topics:

  • Electrical Bio-Impedance sensor development
  • AI based signal processingĀ 
  • Wearable sensorĀ 
  • Algorithms
  • Design and control of a miniaturized continuum robot

Profile and requirements

The candidate will participate in SDU Robotics’ comprehensive research and teaching activities within the areas of medical robotics, advanced user interaction, AI algorithms and biomedical sensing. The position requires a master’s degreeĀ within robotics, electrical engineering, welfare technology, machine learning, or a similar area. The candidate is expected to have a profound knowledge on the majority of the following topics:

  • Analog signal processing and circuitry
  • Programming skills (particularly in C++, Python and ROS)
  • Algorithms (statistical analysis)
  • Electrode-tissue interface modeling
  • Robotics (e.g., mechatronics, modelling, kinematics, dynamics and control)
  • Experimental design and data analysis

Preferably, the candidate has experience with:Ā 

  • Artificial IntelligenceĀ 
  • Impedance sensing circuit and DSPĀ 
  • Experimental design and data analysis

Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to:

  • Have excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
  • Have high self-motivation to learn.Ā 
  • Be able to work well and communicate expert knowledge in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Have the ability of working independently.
  • Have a strong sense of responsibility.

Research environment
The candidate will be integrated in the section SDU Robotics, which is at the core of theĀ Odense Robotics Cluster involving Universal Robots, Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR) and 120+ other companies. We are a team of appr. 60 researchers and engineers specialized in research and development of robot solutions within the medical, welfare and industrial domain.Ā 

SDU Robotics is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We solve challenging research problems derived from real-life challenges by implementing novel robot solutions together with end users as national hospitals, Universal Robots, LEGO and Novo Nordisk.

Odense

Conditions of employment
The employment as research assistant is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period. The position is for a 1-year period with the possibility of extension.
