Casualty Analytics Product Owner

  • Location: USA – NY – New York
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid  
  • The salary range for this role is:  $225,000 - $260,000

The Opportunity

The Casualty Analytics Product Owner will be responsible for driving Casualty exposure and data analytics for the QBE Re Casualty book, globally. Working with underwriters, technology, ops and actuarial to define and drive the scope of delivery of the projects supporting our wider transformation agenda. You will be accountable for maximising the business value achieved through the transformation. You will make day-to-day decisions and agree requirements for the casualty exposure analytics project.

Your New Role:

The Casualty Analytics Product Owner will be embedded within the project delivery team providing the expertise and business experience to shape and build the solution.

You will be able to provide the drive to ensure pragmatic decisions are made to delivery value in a way that is efficient, repeatable and embedded in the business operations.

You will act as the “voice of the business” and provide specific guidance on the initiative objectives. You will articulate needs, and desired outcomes for the initiative, supporting the prioritisation of the initiative backlog based on these business needs. 
 

We are looking for candidates with a background in some (not necessarily all) of the following:

·       Working knowledge of casualty lines (re)insurance underwriting and/or pricing and portfolio analytics

·       Experience working with structured and unstructured casualty data is important, as well as a working knowledge of available software that can support data analytics (e.g. R, Python, SAS, database structures/querying etc.)

·       Experience in undertaking or overseeing analytics projects with incomplete and non-standard datasets, and complex data wrangling

·       Strong stakeholder management skills, a “can do” commercial mindset and the ability to navigate ambiguity. 

·       Data science, technical underwriting or actuarial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Actuarial experience

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
