Summary of Job Duties:

The Director of Analytics will report to the Deputy Athletic Director – General Manager and be responsible for advancing the use of data and analytics to support all aspects of Football and Men’s Basketball decision-making, including player evaluation, game strategy, and roster construction. The Director acts as a trusted advisor to the General Manager, coaching staff, and scouting departments by translating complex data into actionable insights that create a competitive edge on and off the field. In addition, this position will supervise a team of graduate assistants and/or interns who serve as analysts, supporting various research and data initiatives across both sports.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, applied mathematics, operations research, or a closely related field

  • At least three years of experience in applied sports analytics or a related data analytics role, preferably in either football or basketball

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Python or R, and database tools such as SQL

  • Experience creating and interpreting statistical models and visualizations to support decision-making

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant quantitative or data-focused discipline

  • Direct experience working in football and/or basketball analytics, ideally within a collegiate or professional sports environment

  • Familiarity with athlete tracking systems (e.g., Catapult, Kinexon, Second Spectrum, Synergy)

  • Experience designing custom dashboards and reports using platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or similar

  • Previous supervisory or mentorship experience with interns or graduate assistants

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of NCAA rules, recruiting regulations, and eligibility requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical stakeholders

  • Expert-level film evaluation skills with a sharp eye for talent, scheme fit, and upside

  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to merge qualitative scouting with quantitative insights

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results under tight timelines

  • Ability to multitask across player levels and maintain attention to detail

  • Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with coaches, administrators, and outside scouting professionals
