Ad Platforms is responsible for Disney’s industry-leading ad technology and products – driving advertising performance, innovation, and value in Disney’s sports, news, and entertainment content, across all media platforms.

The Audience Targeting team is part of Ad Platforms, with a mission to help advertisers reach the right audience and deliver personalized, optimized experiences tailored to customer needs and interests. Our Audience Targeting Platform offers a unified solution for audience data exchange and enrichment, as well as high-concurrency, low-latency audience targeting services powered by advanced data technologies. This is a dynamic, cross-domain team delivering end-to-end solutions across diverse technical areas, including machine learning, big data, microservices, and data visualization.

We are currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in big data, along with strong expertise in backend services or full-stack development. Responsibilities:

  • Build components of large-scale data platform for real-time and batch processing, and own features of big data applications to fit evolving business needs

  • Build next-gen cloud based big data infrastructure for batch and streaming data applications, and continuously improve performance, scalability and availability

  • Contribute to the best engineering practices, including the use of design patterns, CI/CD, code review and automated test

  • Chip in ground-breaking innovation and apply the state-of-the-art technologies

  • As a key member of the team, contribute to all aspects of the software lifecycle: design, experimentation, implementation and testing.

  • Collaborate with program managers, product managers, SDET, and researchers in an open and innovative environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related, or equitable work experience

  • 7+ years of software development experience, and proficiency in Java, Python, or similar language and related service frameworks like Spring Boot.

  • 3+ years of big data development experience with technical stacks like Spark, Flink, Singlestore, Kafka, Nifi, and AWS big data technologies

  • Experience in relational databases like MySQL or Postgres and NoSQL databases like DynamoDB or MongoDB.

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills in order to efficiently drive resolution of critical issues.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to drive consensus across cross functional business partners.

  • Knowledge of system, application design and architecture

  • Experience of building industry level high available and scalable service

  • Passion about technologies, and openness to interdisciplinary work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in a related field, and/or related certification/s

  • Experience with processing large amount of data at petabyte level

  • Demonstrated ability with cloud infrastructure technologies, including Terraform, K8S, Spinnaker, IAM, ALB, and etc.

  • Experience with Databricks, Druid, Snowflake, Impala, Presto, Kinesis, etc.

  • Experience in front end development such as React or Angular

#DISNEYTECH

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is between $152,200 – $204,100 year and San Francisco, CA is between $166,800 - $223,600 and Seattle, WA is between $159,500 – $213,900 and New York is between $159,500 - $213,900. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
