Job Description
The Head of Data and Analytics will develop and execute the AFCA’s data and analytics strategy, including AI, in alignment with overall strategic objectives. Reporting straight to the EGM of Corporate Services, you will lead the Data and Analytics function with 18+ indirect reports. This role will oversee the BI, Insights, Technical Data, Business Reporting, Data Governance/Information Management and Workforce Planning teams to ensure the successful delivery of strategic analytic projects, operational support, and data exchange functions. We are seeking someone with strong leadership and data management skills, who is looking to make a real impact in a purposeful, values driven organisation.
Please note, this is initially a 6-month fixed term contract.
Typically, in this role you will:
- Develop and execute the AFCA’s data and analytics strategy, including AI, in alignment with overall strategic objectives.
- Manage BI, Insights, Technical Data, Business Reporting, Data and Information Governance, Data Projects and Workforce Planning teams to deliver strategic analytic projects, operational support and data exchange functions.
- Drive and enhance information management maturity through projects, in line with AFCA’s project methodologies, to reduce organisational risk and increase compliance.
- Through cultural change, embed the Data Governance Framework and Data Ethics Framework with AFCA’s staff and data professionals.
- Oversee the technical management of ACFA’s Modern data platform including datasets, storage, accessibility, and management.
- Drive the development and delivery of advanced analytics, predictive models, and business intelligence to provide actionable insights.
- Ongoing engagement across internal and external stakeholders to ensure support services are timely, meaningful and fit-for-purpose. This includes federal regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders relating to data standards and exchange activities.
- Communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders in an accessible and actionable manner.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and AI.
- Drive innovation in data and analytics practices, exploring new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Understanding of data tools and technologies such as PowerBI, Data Lakes and Warehouses, AI/ML and related technologies.
- Knowledge of advanced analytics including statistical modelling, machine learning, predictive analytics, and business intelligence tools.
- Experience with Cloud Platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with AI and Machine Learning technologies and frameworks.
- Industry Experience in sectors such as finance, healthcare, or government.
- Relevant certifications in data management, analytics, or related technologies are advantageous.
