Consider this role as a Data Management Analyst on the Statistical Reporting Team. This team is responsible for the accurate and complete reporting of statistical data for policy, premium, claim, loss and financial regulatory reporting mandates across all lines of business for CNA Insurance.

Insurance companies are required to report data about their operations in order for the regulatory body to assess performance in areas including fair business practices, consumer protection and rate development. As a Data Management Analyst, under broad supervision you will be responsible for regulatory data calls and inquiries associated with financial, actuarial and corporate processing/reporting. This role is accountable for mandatory statistical reporting required by such regulatory agents including, but not limited to federal government, state departments of insurance and various other state regulatory agencies. You will also support corporate standards and coding structures in accordance with CNA’s products and services and engage in control activities to ensure data quality and adherence to enterprise data policy.

In this position, you will enjoy a hybrid work schedule determined by the needs of the business that typically consists of one day per week in our CNA Chicago office with the option to work the remainder of your week remotely.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

  • Takes accountability for data calls and inquiries to support submission requirements for various statistical agents, state insurance departments, claims regulatory reporting, and other internal and external data needs for a variety of Property & Casualty insurance lines of businesses (including Auto, Liability, Medical Malpractice, Property and Workers Compensation).
  • Utilizes technology to analyze data and/or metrics from applicable systems to review data processes, research issues, and escalate problems that require data, system or process improvements.
  • Works with technical staff and subject matter advisors to understand business issues, troubleshoot problems, and participate in the development of costeffective data solutions.
  • Ensures data integrity by executing controls and requisite processes around the flow of data.
  • Partners with business and information technology in common testing environment for new and migrating products ensuring quality results prior to implementation. Participates in testing of changes prior to deployment as appropriate.
  • Participates in data-related projects with supervision.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Reports to Director or above.

  • Willingness and ability to learn new system applications/functions with assistance.
  • Readily adapts to change.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Excel.
     

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically up to three years’ related experience in areas such as data management and analysis, claims, accounting or systems/business analysis and processing.
  • New college grads and internal employees are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with SQL, Power BI, Google BigQuery or other data querying or business intelligence reporting tools is a plus, but not required.

In Illinois the average base pay range for a Senior Data Management Analyst is $66,000 to $82,500. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. 

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $47,000 to $78,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
