The Opportunity:  We are seeking an experienced Network Modeling and Simulation Lead to drive our network planning and optimization efforts. The successful candidate will lead a team in developing sophisticated network models, conducting simulations, and providing data-driven insights to improve network performance, capacity, and reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of complex network models for various network technologies (e.g., IP/MPLS, optical)

  • Oversee the design and execution of network simulations to evaluate performance, capacity, and scalability

  • Develop methodologies for accurate traffic forecasting and network dimensioning

  • Guide the team in analyzing simulation results and preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders

  • Collaborate with network architects and engineers to translate simulation insights into actionable network design recommendations

  • Evaluate and implement new modeling and simulation tools and techniques

  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of network models through continuous refinement and calibration

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the modeling and simulation team

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align simulation efforts with business objectives

  • Stay current with emerging network technologies and incorporate them into modeling practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience 

  • 10+ years of related work experience   

  • Strong understanding of network protocols, architectures, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, MPLS, SDN)  

  • Expertise in network simulation tools (NS3, Riverbed Modeler, OPNET, Paragon Planner, etc.) 

  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools 

  • Proven track record of solving complex network problems through modeling and simulation 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • TS/SCI with Poly required  

  • Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and guide teams toward achieving project goals.

Desired:  

  • Strong programming skills in languages relevant to network modeling (e.g., Python, C++, MATLAB) 

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP) 

  • Experience in large-scale, multi-vendor network environments

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$120,800 - $265,800
