LMI is seeking a highly technical Data Architect/ Infrastructure SME to support activities related to logistics Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) modernization and strategic data migration planning to facilitate the multi-product transition to the Enterprise Business System – Convergence (EBS-C) project. The candidate will work with master data technical, functional and business SMEs to support large scale data mapping, process improvement and identify areas to reduce system profile. The candidate will develop a data migration strategy to reduce the current systems’ footprint by shifting, removing, or improving master data support and requirements.
Note: Work location is client site, Fort Belvoir, VA. Telework will be acceptable with the requirement to visit client offices at Fort Belvoir, Virginia at least once per week or as requested.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing data infrastructure, integration and interfaces to drive technology decisions to improve data structure, cleansing, and processing to efficiently reduce the existing system footprint and prepare for migration.
- Ensure the architecture to transport data from one source system to another is properly constructed, effective and efficient.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand source data, usage, business rules and dependencies.
- Perform analysis to provide quantifiable and detailed cost estimations for potential alternate technologies or changes/upgrades to the current baseline system to realize efficiencies and cost savings.
- Apply architectural and technology concepts to address scalability, security, reliability, maintainability and sharing of enterprise data.
- Recommend strategies to optimize data storage, end to end processing, and system performance.
- Develop technical documentation on current interfaces and architecture to increase understanding of where data is stored, how it is currently received, and optimizing data exchange with other systems.
- Perform Master Data analysis and data quality assessments.
- Identify and promote best practices data modeling, data quality and data cleansing.
- Demonstrate the ability to think strategically across SAP and non-SAP landscapes and understand the interfaces receiving and sending data.
- Demonstrate technical and functional understanding of SAP integration components including SAP ECC and BW.
Qualifications
Required:
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Security + certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment and / or designing data architecture in AWS or other cloud environments.
- 5+ years’ experience with Army, DoD or Commercial SAP implementation, sustainment and modernization of material and equipment master data.
- Understand data and systems architecture documents, business processes and how the data supports those processes.
- Experience with various data modeling and design tools (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, DataBricks).
- The ability to align the data architecture with organizational goal and strategies.
- Strong knowledge and / or hands-on experience with designing data architectures, using data governance frameworks and tools.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing methodologies, data modeling techniques, and overall data management.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, excellent organizational skills, the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, must have the ability to work independently and take a proactive role.
Desired:
- SAP training and/or certifications or IAT Level II equivalent
- SAFe or other Agile certifications.
- Experience supporting or enabling BI reporting, visualizations, or enterprise self-service analytics tools and platforms (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
- 10+ years’ experience with Army, DoD or Commercial SAP implementation, sustainment and modernization of material and equipment master data.
- Working knowledge of SAP Business Warehouse (BW), ECC, Business Objects, and SAP Landscape Transformation (SLT).
- Working knowledge of SAP end-to-end data flows and interactions between SAP and non-SAP products.
- Experience integrating SAP systems with a strong emphasis on BW data models to external platforms, APIs, and middleware.
- Working knowledge of Army or non-Army ERP systems.
