Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Engineer with strong Python programming experience to join our dynamic engineering team. This role focuses on developing in-house tools to support mechanical engineering workflows, interfacing with the Power Inverter Module (PIM), and collaborating with cross-functional software teams to ensure seamless integration of vehicle systems. Having a self- starter attitude and experience with full stack engineering is needed. Given the placement within a product release center focused on executing hardware release, standard software scope sheets, requirement documents, and the like will be limited.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based tools to automate and enhance mechanical engineering processes including warranty tracking, bill of materials management, bill of design, best practices, lessons learned, Critical Design Review (CDR), tool kick off (TKO), etc.
  • Mixing off-the-shelf automation applications with custom built tools to achieve easy to use workflows for common processes.
  • Custom tool integration with common applications (excel, outlook, etc.)
  • Develop product engineering to manufacturing engineering integration solutions to ensure alignment between the groups and build in higher visibility to data
  • Create tools for simulating complex data and multi-objective optimizations across a range of use cases and future development
  • Develop methods and algorithms for comparing simulated data to collected data
  • Collaborate with the Power Inverter Module (PIM) and Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) team to support diagnostics, data analysis, and control strategies.
  • Document tool usage, workflows, and technical specifications for internal teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in programing or a similar engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tool development.
  • Experience utilizing python libraries like Tkinter, Matplotlib, Pandas, selenium, etc.
  • Familiarity with automotive systems, especially power electronics and inverter modules.
  • Experience working with CAN, LIN, or other automotive communication protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD in computer science or related field
  • Machine learning experience
  • Experience with Python, C++, C#, Vb.net are all desired
  • Experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., Matplotlib, Plotly) and data analysis (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and real-time operating environments.
  • An electrical engineering background and good understanding of electrical components,
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices.
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or other modeling tools is a plus.
