About the role

Are you a data expert with a passion for the finance domain and a talent for translating complex data into strategic business insights? At VIALET, we are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to be the crucial link between our business stakeholders and our data platform.

You will be the analytical powerhouse of the company, taking full ownership of our business intelligence and reporting landscape. Your mission is to understand the deep business needs, model the data to reflect them, and tell compelling stories through insightful dashboards and analyses. You will work in close partnership with our external data engineering team, translating business requirements for them and ensuring the data they deliver is robust, reliable, and ready for analysis.

What you'll do

• Be the voice of the business for data: Act as the primary bridge between business leaders and our outsourced data engineering team, translating strategic questions into technical requirements and data models.
• Own the business logic layer: Take full ownership of our business data models within dbt. You will define, document, and maintain consistent metrics and naming conventions across the company, ensuring a single source of truth.
• Master the art of data storytelling: Go beyond simple reporting. You will analyze complex datasets, uncover underlying trends, and build powerful, intuitive dashboards in Tableau that drive strategic decisions.
• Champion data-driven decisions: Work closely with departments like Finance, Product, and Operations to understand their challenges, provide proactive analytical support, and empower them to make smarter decisions.
• Drive data quality and integrity: While you won't build the core pipelines, you will be the first line of defense in identifying data anomalies. You'll take ownership of spotting issues, investigating root causes with the engineering team, and validating data to ensure its accuracy and reliability.
• Understand the full data lifecycle: While your expertise will be in modeling and reporting, you'll have a strong grasp of the entire data flow, from source systems to final insight.

What you'll bring

• 5+ years of proven experience in data analysis, with a significant portion of that time spent in a fintech or financial services environment.
• Expert-level SQL skills, with extensive experience in complex querying, performance optimization, and data modeling.
• Deep, hands-on experience with dbt for building and maintaining sophisticated business data models.
• Mastery of a modern BI tool, with a strong preference for Tableau, to create insightful and user-friendly dashboards.
• A solid foundation in mathematics and statistics that allows you to naturally derive meaningful insights from data.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex data concepts into clear business language.
• A strong sense of ownership and a proactive approach to problem-solving; you don't wait for issues to find you.
• Familiarity with the modern data stack and an understanding of how tools like Apache Airflow and columnar databases (like ClickHouse) fit into the ecosystem.
• Working proficiency with Python for data analysis and automation is a strong plus.

You’ll be joining a team that values a modern, efficient data stack. Our platform is built on Apache Airflow for orchestration, ClickHouse as our analytical database, dbt for data transformation and modeling, and Tableau for business intelligence. You will be the guru of dbt and Tableau, shaping how VIALET sees and understands its data.
