Visiting Researcher, GenAI (PhD)

Meta is seeking a Visiting Researcher through a short-term contract to join Meta AI.

The Visiting Researcher role delivers cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning innovations that improve product experiences, and power business growth across Meta. This role supports Meta's business by developing and applying novel AI techniques to enhance the company's Meta AI products and services.

In this role, the AI Research Scientist conducts primary research in AI and machine learning, collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate AI innovations into products, and delivers insights that inform product strategy, design, and development decisions. By advancing the state-of-the-art in AI and applying these advancements to real-world problems, this role helps drive high-quality user experiences, improves customer engagement, and contributes to the growth and success of Meta's products and businesses.

This position is short-term employment for PhD students who will work in collaboration with Meta and their University.Visiting Researcher, GenAI (PhD) Responsibilities

• Perform research tackling unsolved real-world problems and push SOTA Retrieval Augmented Generation
• Design and implement algorithms, train SOTA models and evaluate their performance
• Drive research that can be applied to Meta AI

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
• Research experience in one or more of these areas: NLP, speech, machine learning, deep learning, or related fields
• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in a technical field such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering
• Research experience in development and implementation of LLM algorithm/systems and model training
• Knowledge of deep learning and neural networks
• Experience working with machine learning libraries like Pytorch
• Familiar with scripting languages such as Python and shell scripts
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research, and taking the solutions to production
• First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL)
• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and varied points of view to determine a path forward
• Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment

$56.25/hour to $137,000/year + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
