Purpose

The AI and Automation Specialist is responsible for designing and operationalising AI and automation capabilities within Wilhelmsen Ship Management data platform. This role supports the company’s digital transformation by enabling intelligent automation, scalable analytics, and data-driven decision-making across vessel and shore-based operations.
 

Main responsibilities

  • Design and maintain AI and automation frameworks integrated with Wilhelmsen Ship Management data platform.

  • Develop and manage pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and quality assurance using relevant tools within the system

  • Build and deploy machine learning models and automation logic that support operational use cases (e.g., vessel performance, crew planning, invoice processing).

  • Collaborate on the automation and data process improvement initiatives within Wilhelmsen Ship Management

  • Ensure AI and automation components are aligned with data governance, lineage, and access control policies.

  • Support the development of dashboards and monitoring tools for AI/automation performance

  • Document technical specifications and contribute to the Developer Handbook and internal knowledge base.

Qualifications

Mandatory requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or automation roles.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and automation tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Power Automate).

  • Experience with Snowflake, Azure, and MLOps practices.

  • Familiarity with maritime operations and vessel data systems.

  • Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and API integration.
