Our group is actively seeking a Research Fellow for a term of one year to conduct high quality research. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in a project centered around variational quantum algorithm in the near-term, especially on innovating advanced error mitigation or detection techniques to solve quantum many-body physics problems with high accuracy.
The College of Computing & Data Science (CCDS) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
To conduct independent research in near-term variational quantum algorithms.
To seek and demonstrate practical utility of variational quantum algorithm by leveraging error mitigations techniques and symmetries embedded in quantum many-body systems.
To produce publications in top conferences and journals.
To offer guidance and assistance to any students involved in the project.
To collaborate with industrial and academic partners.
To collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including experts in physics, chemistry, and those who work on quantum computing hardware.
To perform any other duties related to the research program.
Job Requirements:
A PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning or relevant fields.
Strong publication record in top conferences/journals, such as Nature Physics, Nature Communications, PRL, T-PAMI, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, and etc.
Experience in interdisciplinary studies of deep learning, mathematics, and physics is preferred.
Strong theoretical background in quantum learning theory, quantum many-body physics, and quantum error mitigation.
Good programming skills in Python. Familiarity with PyTorch or tensorflow will be a bonus.
Proficiency of programming skill with quantum machine learning architectures, such as PennyLane, Qiskit, and similar platforms, is preferred.
Capable of handling multiple tasks across projects and research activities.
Showing excellent communication skills, and willingness to learn.
Able to work under limited supervision and excel as an effective team member.
