Role Overview – Robotics Engineer

As a Robotics Engineer at Robotto, you will play a vital role in building the core perception and autonomy capabilities for our drone platforms. You will design and implement algorithms for visual odometry, optical flow, and visual SLAM, while working on sensor fusion pipelines to create robust and reliable state estimation and localization. Your work will directly enhance the safety, reliability, and autonomy of mission-critical drone systems deployed in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust visual perception algorithms (optical flow, visual odometry, visual SLAM).
  • Design and integrate multi-sensor fusion strategies combining data from cameras, IMUs, and GNSS.
  • Optimize perception and estimation pipelines for real-time performance on embedded systems.
  • Support the development of localization and navigation solutions in GPS-denied environments.
  • Take part in developing, integrating, and validating robotics software on our drone platforms.
  • Conduct testing and validation in both simulation and real-world environments.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in modern C++.
  • Proven experience with visual perception techniques (optical flow, visual odometry, SLAM).
  • Solid understanding of sensor fusion concepts and practical implementation.
  • Experience with real-time systems.
  • Background in estimation theory, dynamic system modeling, or control systems is a plus.
  • Experience working with drones or other autonomous aerial vehicles is a strong plus.

What Sets This Role Apart

  • Direct impact on the development of mission-critical autonomous systems.
  • A passionate, talented team in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Access to training, tools, and resources to accelerate your professional growth.
  • Opportunity to earn equity through our warrant program.
  • A mission-driven workplace where technology serves a positive, global purpose.
