About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Data Engineer (Azure ETL Specialist) to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and managing ETL processes and Azure-based data solutions to support enterprise data initiatives. You will be responsible for building efficient, scalable, and secure data pipelines and environments that support analytics, business intelligence, and machine learning use cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL processes to ingest, cleanse, transform, and load data across enterprise systems.
- Build and optimize solutions using Microsoft Azure data services, including:
- Azure SQL
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Data Lake
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Analysis Services
- Azure Machine Learning
- Azure Key Vault
- Power BI
- Develop and maintain SSIS packages and SQL scripts for data extraction and transformation.
- Create, optimize, and troubleshoot T-SQL queries, including stored procedures, views, and indexes.
- Analyze and manage large volumes of data, designing scalable and reliable data flow models and data mappings.
- Design and implement database structures, including data marts, data stores, and data lakes to support business intelligence and advanced analytics.
- Ensure compliance with data quality, data governance, and data security standards.
- Conduct performance tuning to optimize ETL pipelines and data models for speed and resource efficiency.
- Implement unit testing practices, with a strong focus on automated testing, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data pipelines.
- Utilize Azure DevOps for managing source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments of data solutions.
Required Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the creation of ETL processes.

Proven experience with Microsoft Azure data products as listed above.

Strong skills in SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL scripting.

Proficiency in T-SQL, including development of stored procedures, views, and indexes.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets and define data flow architecture.

Solid background in data modeling, database design, and data lake architectures.

Deep understanding of data quality assurance, data security, and compliance best practices.

Experience with performance tuning and optimization of data workflows.

Familiarity with automated unit testing approaches in data pipeline environments.

Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps release pipelines and CI/CD practices.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

Knowledge of Python, PySpark, or other scripting languages used in Azure Databricks.

Experience working in agile development environments.

Familiarity with enterprise metadata management tools.
Education
Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
