Job Summary 

Keyrus is looking for a Data Science Software Developer to build high-quality tools, applications, and packages in R and Python that support scientific research, analytics, and business processes. 

This role combines software engineering practices with a strong understanding of data workflows, aiming to create user-friendly, reliable, and validated software for internal teams.

Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare domain is a plus, especially with familiarity around clinical development standards and regulated environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with statisticians, programmers, and data scientists to translate analytical and business needs into functional, scalable software tools and packages.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications and reusable packages using R, Python, and associated frameworks (e.g., Shiny, Dash).
  • Integrate applications with SQL/NoSQL databases and manage data access securely and efficiently.
  • Develop and document validated GxP-compliant tools, following Computer System Validation (CSV) processes and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Create user and technical documentation, and provide training or workshops as needed.
  • Track and manage development progress, issues, and enhancements using tools like GitHub or JIRA, applying Agile development practices.
  • Maintain tools post-deployment, releasing regular updates and responding to user feedback.
  • Contribute to innovation projects and provide subject matter expertise in internal product development and change initiatives.


Requirements for the role 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in R and Python programming, especially for building applications and reusable packages.
  • Proven ability in full-cycle software development:
  • Application architecture
  • Integration with databases
  • Code modularization and reuse
  • Version control (Git)
  • Testing and debugging
  • Deployment and scaling
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience using GitHub or similar tools for source control and collaborative development.
  • Fluent in English
  • Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or have a work permit for Portugal

 

Good to have:

  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, particularly in support of Shiny or web-based applications.
  • Applied experience in clinical development or biopharma environments.
  • Knowledge of CDISC standards and regulatory frameworks relevant to pharma.
  • Experience delivering validated tools in a GxP-regulated context.
