General description
The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the state’s unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners.
To accomplish this objective, division staff receives and processes property reports from holders; provides information and assistance to claimants; verifies and processes claims, evaluates data for system implementation and manages the contract audit and voluntary disclosure programs. Owner outreach efforts include posting available properties on two online searchable databases (ClaimItTexas.gov and Missingmoney.com) and owner notice mailings.
This position will be responsible for compiling, reviewing and validating data for statistical reports, budgetary reports and queries. We are looking for an individual with good computer skills, is a whiz with Excel Spreadsheets and is a quick learner.
This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with Bachelor’s Degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred.
Experience:
- Experience researching, running reports or performing statistical analysis.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience responding to customer telephone and email inquiries
- Division Security Coordinator experience
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements
- Experience with budget-related activities (processing PAFs, monitoring expenditures, verifying invoices)
Substitution:
One additional year full-time work experience providing administrative program support may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
In this role you will:
Compile, review and validate data for statistical reports, budgetary reports and queries. Processes requests for database files. Respond to inquiries regarding technical support such as hardware, local area networks, and system software. Assist division director in analysis, research, and preparation of responses to technical requests for information.
Serve as the division security coordinator and back-up purchasing/budget liaison. Assist with on-boarding activities for newly hired employees and contract staff. Maintain the division intranet website.
Identify, develop and implement techniques for evaluating and improving division programs. Evaluate section operations to identify opportunities for business process improvements and make recommendations for procedure changes.
