Postdoctoral Project Researcher for the EqBlankets Project

Description

The researcher will participate in the EqBlankets project to develop explainable models for the computing continuum. Further, these will embed and distribute intelligence through the system, providing adaptation capacity.

The hired researcher will have to carry out tasks related to the EqBlankets project. Precisely, the researcher must model distributed computing continuum systems using Service Level Objectives (SLOs), exploring their capacity to control system requirements and develop algorithms capable of supporting the design and execution tasks of these distributed computing systems. In this sense, the researcher is expected to take advantage of the Markov Blanket concept to generate models capable of predicting and explaining the behavior of SLOs. In addition, these models are expected to incorporate the concept of causality. In this way, we will explain the reasons for its operation. The researcher must publish the results obtained in well-qualified scientific journals and in international conferences. Finally, the researcher must teach in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies and Sciences.

Required Education Level : PhD or equivalent

Required Research Experiences: Computer science

Years of Research Experience: 3

Early stage researcher or 1-4 yrs

Recognised Researcher (R2) (PhD holders or equivalent who are not yet fully independent)

The candidate must have: Postdoctoral experience in research in one (or more) of the following areas:

Edge computing,

Edge intelligence,

Cloud computing, and Internet-based distributed systems.

Research in IoT (Internet of Things), Robotics, and machine learning will also be positively valued.

Knowledge of Bayesian networks of learning causality.

Knowledge of the operation of cloud systems and the processes and tools used.

Excellent programming skills and knowledge of relevant programming languages ​​and development platforms (e.g., Python).

Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Accreditation of sufficient knowledge of Catalan for teaching

OTHER MERITS

1. Academic Training: 10 points.

2. Professional experience/Suitability to the proposed profile: 25 points.

3. Research experience supported by scientific publications: 20 points.

4. International mobility: 15 points

5. Participation and organization in conferences, workshops and other scientific dissemination events: 15 points

6. Teaching activities, both in degree courses and mentoring final degree or master's projects: 15 points

The minimum score to pass the selection process is 75 points
