To design, develop, implement, and support mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models and analytics used in business decision-making
Accountabilities
- Design analytics and modelling solutions to complex business problems using domain expertise.
- Collaboration with technology to specify any dependencies required for analytical solutions, such as data, development environments and tools.
- Development of high performing, comprehensively documented analytics and modelling solutions, demonstrating their efficacy to business users and independent validation teams.
- Implementation of analytics and models in accurate, stable, well-tested software and work with technology to operationalise them.
- Provision of ongoing support for the continued effectiveness of analytics and modelling solutions to users.
- Demonstrate conformance to all Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Policies, particularly Model Risk Policy.
- Ensure all development activities are undertaken within the defined control environment.

Join us as an Advisory Quantitative Analyst in our Private Banking team in our London office.
About Advisory Analytics
Advisory Analytics sits in the Investments pillar of Barclays Private Banks & Wealth Management (PBWM). We are a team of quantitative investments subject matter experts (SMEs) whose mission is to help grow the business by providing quantitative consultancy services to Investment Advisors (IAs); in doing so, we build the foundations for investment solutions that align to client’s return objectives, risk tolerance / capacity and PBWM’s best thinking.
Advisory Analytics provide quantitative support to IAs when pitching and conducting portfolio reviews. We develop and maintain tools for use by IAs and write educational material to help clients to understand their investments. For higher value, more complex cases & sophisticated clients, we provide a bespoke quantitative analytics service. We work with IAs to provide analytics for clients who require a deeper understanding of their investments and join client meetings to discuss analytics in detail.
Overall purpose of role
To work closely with key stakeholders and clients to:
- Find innovative solutions to wide ranging quantitative problems and questions from clients (topics including risk, expected return, stress testing, back testing etc)
- Develop new and existing tools and models to scale analytics that can add value to clients
- Automate processes and calculations whenever possible
- Be a key contributor and subject matter expert on the quantitative aspects of the roll out of our strategic advisory system
- Develop relationships within the business and promote the capabilities of the team
- Join client meetings to discuss and explain the risk and return characteristics of their portfolios
- Research and write articles on topics relevant to analytics
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience of quantitative financial methods
- Experience in asset allocation
- Knowledge of the workings of a large range financial instruments and asset classes
- Excellent coding skills – in particular Python
Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:
- Client-facing experience
- Previous experience working within private banking
- Experience working with structured products
- Experience in rolling out large scale investment advisory systems
