ABOUT THE TEAM

The Maritime Application Team sits at the tip of the spear, transforming core platform technology into mission-winning capabilities that deliver a decisive operational edge at sea. We are a specialized software team embedded within the core Lattice Platform, uniquely positioned to accelerate the delivery of mission-critical capabilities for maritime platforms such as the Dive-LD, Dive-XL, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry. Our role is to take powerful platform primitives—like data management, mission autonomy, simulation, auth, and orchestration—and rapidly forge them into integrated, robust applications for autonomous maritime systems. We act as an incubator for future platform features, ensuring that the solutions we build for today's contracts are the foundation for tomorrow's platform-wide advancements. If you are passionate about building high-impact software that directly supports operators in the field while shaping a next-generation platform, this is your team.

ABOUT THE JOB

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) on the Maritime Application Team, you are the guardian of quality for systems that operate in high-stakes environments. Your mission is to ensure that the software controlling our autonomous maritime vehicles is relentlessly reliable. You will go beyond traditional testing by designing and building sophisticated, automated frameworks that can validate complex, multi-system workflows. You will be responsible for creating tests that span from the UI to the API, integrating with hardware-in-the-loop and advanced simulations to ensure our software works flawlessly, every time.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and infrastructure for the Maritime application stack.
  • Create and execute comprehensive test plans that cover UI, API, and system-level integration for complex maritime missions.
  • Build and manage simulation-based test environments to validate autonomous behaviors and edge cases that are difficult to replicate in the real world.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to develop and utilize hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing capabilities.
  • Integrate automated testing into our CI/CD pipelines to ensure quality is built into every stage of the development lifecycle.
  • Triage failures, identify root causes, and work closely with software engineers to resolve defects.
  • Champion a culture of quality by defining quality metrics, reporting on test results, and advocating for testability in new feature development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in a Test Automation or SDET role.
  • Strong programming skills in a language like Python, Go, or TypeScript.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks from the ground up.
  • Experience with UI automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress), API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Pytest), and performance testing.
  • A deep understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues across a distributed system.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience testing software for robotics, IoT, or other hardware-integrated systems.
  • Familiarity with simulation environments or game engines (e.g., Gazebo, Unity, Unreal).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and experience testing in degraded or non-standard network conditions.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
