This will include supporting complex issues and working with the team in delivering projects and work initiatives.  

This is an Auckland based hybrid role with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly. Anchor days in the office are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

We sat down with the Platform Manager and they told us the following about the role:

What are 5 day-to -day tasks the person in this role will complete?

The successful candidate will join the customer data team and will build data products by: 

  • Gathering and understanding data requirements and limitations.
  • Exploring raw and conformed data Using SQL or python to transform data.
  • Automating pipelines using data engineering tools such as Apache Airflow, DBT and Informatica.
  • Completing code peer reviews.

What will success look like for the candidate in this role?

Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively driving the team towards operational excellence, ensuring alignment with customer needs, stakeholder expectations, and BNZ’s strategic goals. The candidate will also be successful in promoting a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability, and ensuring platform stability, scalability, security, and compliance.

What technical skills / skills are REQUIRED for this role?

We are looking for someone with curiosity and a love of data combined with a love of programming to create data outputs and pipelines, along with: 

  • Highly Proficient in SQL or Python. 
  • A background in modern data engineering practices. 
  • The ability to translate technical information to a non-technical audience. 
  • Knowledge of an agile environment using DevOps practices.
  • Experience with Informatica PowerCenter is essential.
  • Experience with DBT, Snowflake and Airflow is highly desirable.
  • Experience with FiveTran a bonus.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams is essential. You will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. Alongside your strong problem-solving skills, you will have a proactive approach to addressing challenges and a passion for delivering high quality solutions to colleagues.
