About the role:
As a Quantitative Researcher, you’ll drive the full predictive-modeling pipeline – from data acquisition and feature engineering through model training, live deployment and risk management. You’ll shape our quantitative trading infrastructure, developing advanced models for shipping derivatives to support high-stakes decisions with immediate real-world impact.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in modeling time-varying stochastic processes and decision-making under uncertainty with an entrepreneurial mindset.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop Predictive Models – Design, implement and refine mathematical models for time-varying stochastic processes and decision-making under uncertainty.
- Quantitative Trading and Risk Management – Back-test, refine and deploy systematic trading strategies for shipping derivatives, ensuring robust performance and risk assessments throughout.
- Drive Research Initiatives – Lead and initiate core research projects, exploring innovative methodologies to identify novel alpha-generating strategies.
- Collaborate with Domain Experts – Partner closely with data scientists, software engineers and shipping industry experts across the Signal Group and its partners.
Requirements
What You Bring to the Team:
- An advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience working in a data-driven research environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and a continuous commitment to questioning the status quo.
- Experience in software development and converting research ideas to code with proficiency in Python or C++.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, startup-like environments – motivated by personal growth, autonomy and immediate impact.
Bonus Points
- Previous startup or team-lead experience.
- Trading or commodity background
- Experience with shipping derivatives.
