Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Reservoir Engineer, Asset Development, to join our oil and gas team. This role is responsible for evaluating, planning, and optimizing upstream oil and gas development opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in reservoir, drilling, and production engineering, along with sound economic evaluation skills to support asset growth and performance. The position will work in TGNR’s Houston office and have the option to work remotely two (2) days a week. The position will focus on operated assets in the East Texas Basin and the core of the Haynesville in Louisiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize field development plans (FDPs) for unconventional assets.
- Perform reservoir analysis and simulation to forecast production and recovery.
- Apply knowledge base and operational experience (completions design) to inform and model next generation completions to create accurate and predictable ML models to guide strategic development and economic planning initiatives.
- Work closely with geoscientists, drilling, completions, and production teams to identify opportunities for new wells, workovers, recompletions, and enhanced recovery methods.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and engineering data to assess reserves and resources.
- Perform Rate Transient Analysis of new wells to guide choke management in coordination with the production team
- Monitor asset performance and recommend operational adjustments to improve recovery, reduce costs, and manage risk
- Conduct economic evaluations, including cost estimation, risk analysis, and scenario planning.
- Support the development of annual budgets, long-range plans, and reserve reporting.
- Prepare technical presentations and recommendations for senior management and partners.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate quarterly and annual lookback analysis to evaluate lessons learned and improvements for future activities
- Investigate and understand other operators’ projects to assist in company exploration and development processes
- Generate and maintain type-well curves and provide forecasts for planning purposes
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles and completions operations.
- Advanced proficiency in petroleum engineering economic evaluation software (e.g., Aries).
- Proficient in petroleum engineering software (e.g., Enersight, IHS Harmony RTA, Enverus, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, economic evaluation, and project management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and across asset life cycles.
- Spotfire experience preferred
- SQL experience is a plus
- A minimum of 1 year of Completion Engineering experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of Reservoir Engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Petroleum Engineering
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of digital oilfield technologies and data-driven asset optimization.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align technical solutions with strategic objectives.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Job is classified as light physical work in an office setting involving sitting, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing.
• Occasionally, may be required to lift, carry, push, or pull 10-25 pounds.
