What you'll do:
Passionate about boosting employee experiences through continuous listening? Thrive on turning complex data into compelling narratives that influence strategy? We're seeking a strategic, results-driven (Senior) People Insights Scientist to join our People Insights team.
- Master Data Wrangling & Databases: Your passion for data shines here. You'll dive into complex data structures, ensuring quality, integrating sources, and optimizing pipelines for people insights. Your expertise in data management and preparation is crucial.
- Generate Strategic People Insights: Apply advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and predictive modelling to extract meaningful insights from prepared data, informing organizational development.
- Advance SAP’s Listening Strategy: Drive the continuous evolution of employee listening programs, integrating survey methodologies, real-time analytics, and strategic insights. Manage stakeholders (senior executives, P&C leaders, works councils) to ensure transparency and impact.
- Translate Business Needs into Analytical Approaches: Mediate between P&C business leaders and data scientists by translating business questions into actionable research and analytics projects.
- Deliver Storytelling with Data and Insights: Craft clear, persuasive narratives, aligning complex analytical findings with actionable business recommendations for non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to Project Success: Collaborate on complex projects, contributing to end-to-end execution, ensuring timely delivery, and supporting stakeholder alignment. Affinity for agile project management (e.g., Scrum or Kanban) is helpful.
What you bring:
We're seeking a proactive professional with a passion for driving people insights programs and turning data into insights and actions. Here's what will set you up for success:
- Exceptional Data Wrangling & Data Science Expertise: This is paramount. You possess strong skills in data wrangling, database management, applying statistical concepts (e.g., sampling, Frequentist and Bayesian statistics, trend interpretation), and advanced analytics (e.g., regression-, classification-, and clustering-based machine learning and data mining) to derive business-relevant insights. As much of our current codebase is in R, proven proficiency in this language is a significant advantage, enabling you to contribute immediately. Affinity for Python is also a valuable asset.
- Survey Methodology & People Analytics: This is also a core requirement. You have a good understanding of survey design and sampling strategies. Experience with Qualtrics is a valuable asset, but can be learnt on the job. You're skilled in analysing employee feedback and deriving meaningful insights, and can deconstruct complex business challenges into analytical frameworks. A research background, particularly in social sciences or psychology, with experience in building effective item batteries and consolidating opinions from various sources, is a significant benefit.
- Experience and Education: Relevant experience in People Analytics, Data Science, or quantitative research roles. You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related quantitative field.
- Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: You're adept at identifying trends, connecting dots, and applying innovative solutions. You have a proactive mindset to refine and evolve programs based on insights and business needs. Experience with data governance tools like Databricks is a valuable asset.
- Storytelling with Data and Insights: Experience in linking data-driven findings to business strategy and operational decision-making. You can translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations. Building presentations is a useful skill.
- Stakeholder Management & Business Acumen: Proven ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and manage stakeholder relationships, including senior management and executives, as well as social partners. Experience in managing expectations and influencing decision-making.
- Team Player with a Growth Mindset: This is absolutely essential. You are an absolute team player with a strong growth mindset, thriving in an open feedback culture and willing to take ownership to get things over the finish line. Psychological safety is paramount to our team's success.
- Fluency in English is essential, and German is a is an advantage.

We focus on continuous listening and leveraging people analytics to foster sustainable people decisions and create positive impact for SAP, the People & Culture board area, and our employees. We work closely with P&C specialists and program leads to ensure an effective and scalable execution of our global initiatives.
