The NDT Data Management Technician is responsible for maintaining and overseeing NDT databases, reports, and performance metrics throughout the build phase of new vessel construction programs. Key responsibilities include updating and managing databases, reviewing NDT records for accuracy, ensuring timely report delivery, coordinating with stakeholders on NDT status, and handling incoming NDT requests as required. This position reports directly to the NDT Supervisor.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

This is a 2-year limited-term employment with eligible benefits and 3Ā weeks’ vacation.Ā 

What you’ll do

  • Review all NDT documentation for accuracy and completeness; initiate revisions or updates as required.
  • Support the implementation and configuration of new NDT databases and performance metrics for each vessel.
  • Communicates with stakeholders to address any findings in resolve issues related to documentation or NDT job execution.
  • Assists in maintaining the NDT delivery schedule and implementing key performance metrics.
  • Receives, reviews, and processes NDT requests/reports, assigning tasks to NDT technicians and updating internal databases as required.
  • Monitor the progress of NDT tasks by following up with requesters and technicians to ensure timely completion aligned with the production schedule.
  • Generate and submit weekly progress reports to the NDT Supervisor, detailing outstanding work, ongoing activities, and completed tasks across various projects.
  • Contribute to the development of documentation templates and process improvements for the NDT department.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in steel structure manufacturing or quality control, along with at least 2 years of administrative experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of NDT practices is required. Certifications such as CWB VT1 or CGSB MT2 are highly desirable.
  • A bachelor’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field, such as Material and Welding Engineering Technology, is considered an asset.
  • High organizational and administrative skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail, with strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and follow through on tasks.
  • Eligible to obtain reliability security clearance.

The estimated salary for this position is $69,300 - $84,700. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
