Details of the role and how it fits into the team

You will be joining the Business Intelligence Unit, the focus of the role is to provide research, analysis and due diligence focusing on the Western Europe region (primarily Spain, Italy and France). The due diligence should support the Bank to make informed decisions around potential political, reputational and regulatory risks linked to the Bank’s ‘sensitive clients’ and transactions in the region.


Your key responsibilities

Provide research and analysis with regional expertise with focus on the assessment and ongoing monitoring of ‘sensitive’ clients in Western Europe region (primarily Spain, Italy and France). The role will be required to:

  • Support Regional Head of Business Intelligence Unit Europe by providing timely and accurate reporting and analysis in the form of Enhanced Due Diligence reports (EDD), specific sector reviews and Ad hoc geopolitical trend analysis for the Western European region.
  • Identify, establish and maintain a database of accessible and reliable Open-Source Intelligence resources relevant for the region.
  • Respond to all requests for research and reporting in a timely and accurate manner and have a ‘can do attitude’ and exemplary communication skills.
  • Produce demonstrably well-researched reports, including clear indication of sources used by means of detailed attribution.
  • Act, where appropriate, as a point of contact and Subject Matter Expert to Anti-Financial Crime, Compliance, and the Business on ‘sensitive’ clients in the region.


Your skills and experiences

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with Enhanced Due Diligence reviews and analysis focused on Financial Crime and/or geopolitical risks in the region are preferred. In this context, experience in the financial services is desired, but not required.
  • Expertise, previous experience, or academic focus on Europe. Excelling proficiency in English required as well as in at least one of the relevant languages (Italian, Spanish or French)
  • A sound understanding of key regional political and socio-economic issues and excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong technical proficiencies. High proficiency in Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint.
  • The ability to work independently and interact with senior management, with demonstrably effective organizational and communication skill (both oral and written).
