Your responsibilities

The Principal Product Engineer is positioned in a central role for the development of new products. The role requires frequent interaction with other disciplines, such as Test Engineering, IC Design, Design for Test, Reliability, IC Validation, Front-End Innovation, Package Innovation, Quality and Industrial Operations.

The responsibilities include:

  • Key contribution to new product introduction (NPI) for complex automotive Radar ICs
  • Technical leadership role for Radar-specific industrial test and characterization solutions
  • Key strengths either in RF IP design or millimeter-wave external and on-chip testing
  • Translation of product characteristics into feasible industrial test concepts and criteria
  • In-depth analytics of industrial ATE data and bench instrument data
  • Radar-specific part of manufacturing and test flows, ensure industrial producibility
  • Radar-specific contribution to ATE test program releases and limit strategy for NPI milestones
  • Ensure compliance with product datasheet and functional safety requirements
  • Leadership role for systematic problem solving (8D)
  • Support for quality incidents and customer complaints, including customer communication
  • Drive strategic improvements and innovation projects

Your team

Business line AAES is leading in mixed signal processors and front-ends for car radar applications. We lead the industry in state of the art solutions, using advanced CMOS technologies. You will be working in an international Product Engineering team with close connections to other disciplines and manufacturing sites. At BL AAES, Product Engineering is involved in new product introduction projects from the very beginning, having strong focus on the bring-up phase until product release. In addition, Product Engineering supports safe-launch and volume ramp-up while hand-over to the Sustaining Engineering team.

Your profile

The role requires deep core competences in execution, concepts and technical leadership in Product Engineering. In addition, the Principal Product Engineer needs to act as catalyst for neighboring competences, such as IC Design, Test Engineering, IC Validation, Quality and Reliability. Strong communication skills, sense of ownership, curiosity beyond boundaries, team oriented but able to work independently are personal characteristics key to success in this role.

You have:

  • MsC/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent
  • >5 years of experience in a semiconductor engineering role similar to Product Engineering
  • Solid understanding of Radar/mmWave ICs in design, testing, and application
  • Either – deep core competencies in RF system level design
  • Or – deep core competencies in testing of mmW parameters on ATE or bench instruments
  • Advanced skills in complex data analytics (big data) and statistics
  • Experiences with IC characterization, ideally according to AEC-Q003
  • Proven experiences with customer communication on technical subjects
  • Skills in programming languages like Python, R, C++
  • Understanding of semiconductor assembly and package technology is a plus
  • Experiences with requirements management and deriving test specifications / test plans is a plus
  • Experiences using state of the art semiconductor test data analytics tools, e.g., Exensio is a plus
  • Understanding of embedded systems is a plus
  • Skills in data science, e.g., machine learning, is a plus
