Job context
InterDigital is looking for its core video compression team senior staff scientist researcher in the field of video compression.
This mission will take place within a team of talented video compression researchers. It will consist in designing and developing core video compression algorithms, aiming at increased compression efficiency over state-of-the-art video codecs, and proposing them to standardization organizations such as the Joint Video Expert Team (JVET). The conceived algorithms will be developed in a C++ video coding platform.
We are looking for motivated researchers and engineers to take part of this team in InterDigital Rennes, France.
Job description
Integrate a team of researchers/engineers to investigate, design, implement, and optimize algorithms/models leading to improved video compression efficiency over state-of-the-art standards.
Contribute to next generation video coding standards (as developed by JVET, ITU-T SG21 VCEG, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 MPEG).
Represent the company, promote and defend proposals from the company, take leadership positions in standardization meetings
Represent and promote in top academic conferences and in scientific journals.
Work closely with our IPR teams on protecting our ideas.
Supervise interns/PhDs, collaborate with academics.
Requirements
MS or PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, math, statistics, or related fields
Full understanding of state-of-the-art video compression algorithms
High skills in signal processing, image processing, information theory
High experience on video compression standards like VVC, AV1, HEVC, AV1, or recent developments such as ECM.
High experience in standardization in committees like JVET, MPEG, VCEG
High experience in C++ programming language
Ability to communicate/collaborate with other researchers/engineers
Ability to think out of box
Fluent in spoken and written English
The following aspects are a plus:
Expertise on machine learning and deep learning
Grid computing
Bash or python scripting languages
High-level syntax / transport / file format / streaming
