Description

The Data Analyst is a member of our Project Services team, a multi-disciplinary team managing research projects from A to Z, from initial set-up to preparing client-ready deliverables. The Data Analyst is involved in actions and methods performed on data that help describe facts, detect patterns, develop explanations, and test hypotheses i.e., derive intelligence from the data. This is done using an array of tools, techniques, and frameworks that vary depending on the type of analysis being conducted. The four major types of analytics include: descriptive analytics (looks at data to examine, understand, and describe something that’s already happened), diagnostic analytics (goes deeper than descriptive analytics by seeking to understand the why behind what happened), predictive analytics (relies on historical data, past trends, and assumptions to answer questions about what will happen in the future), prescriptive analytics (aims to identify specific actions that an individual or organization should take to reach future targets). The position supports senior members of the team in analysing and reporting more complex and technical challenging projects. 

Responsibilities

Data quality assurance 
  • Can independently identify and solve data issues on the projects.  
  • Can troubleshoot and assist junior levels with issues on the projects.  
  • Can ensure data integrity of large and complex datasets (e.g., multi-country, time series, etc.). 
  Data handling 
  • Able to independently process complex datasets.  
  • Guide team members in managing and manipulating (restructuring, merging, computing, etc.) data.  
  • Can automate analyses & reporting of complex/customised/advanced surveys.  
  • Master technical tools and are able to make the analyses / reporting more efficient through advanced usage of them (e.g., macros, syntaxes, etc.), in collaboration with expert team. 
  Analysis & Statistics  
  • In the lead for analysing complex projects.   
  • Complete the analyses framework where needed and bring in added value independently.  
  • A liaison of consultants. 
  • Able to apply commonly used multivariate analyses (correlation analyses, factor analyses, FCA, linear regression, max diff, etc.) to explore data structures and discover patterns, in support of seniors. 
  Reporting & Visualization 
  • Guide team members with reporting / charting of common data.  
  • Know how to automate the visualisation process to gain efficiency. 
  • Can create visual presentations of complex data or combinations of data. Go beyond standard charting templates where needed. 
  • An expert in setting-up and maintaining online dashboards.  
  • Can customize these according to client needs and design specifications (custom template). 
  Account management  Take the lead with regards to project executional tasks, under the guidance and with support of the consultant team (e.g., answering questions related to project implementation, analysis methods used).   Method management  
  • Has a good understanding of different quantitative research methodologies and analyses techniques and are able to give advice to consultant teams. 
  • Think along with the consultant team and give advice on how to improve the research experience of consumers.  
  • Understand implications (time & feasibility) of specific (change) requests and can recommend alternative solutions. 
  • Innovate new ways of processing & analysing data on existing projects.  
  • Can set up technical manuals or a step-by-step guide on how to analyse custom / complex projects. 

Technical knowledge 
  • Has a good knowledge of all the tools used for performing the key responsibilities. 
  • Has advanced knowledge and experience of less frequently used reporting software such as Dapresy / eTabs.  
  • Has a notion of programming languages such as R, Python, Scala, Java, SQL, Julia, MATLAB. 
  Market Research Knowledge Has a good understanding of basic concepts related to market research, especially those related to the key responsibilities.  

Marketing knowledge  
  • Has a genuine interest in marketing and brands. 
  • Has a basic understanding of the importance of marketing for organizations. 
  Project management knowledge 
  • Can structure work and are able to manage handovers (e.g. absences, change project team, etc.). 
  • Can manage own agenda and plan in tasks accordingly.  
  • Can detect and anticipate possible issues that might occur during a project. 

Language knowledge Manage English at a professional level (verbal/ writing) and able to have a fluent and accurate conversation. 


Qualifications

  • Education level - a bachelor’s degree (e.g. Marketing, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or similar) 
  • Experience – 5-6 years of experience
