The Data Analytics Developer III leads development work to empower Franciscan Health's clinical and business decision makers with trusted, timely and actionable information. With limited oversight, this senior level resource works on complex projects to transform raw data into structured, consumable formats by data and business analysts. Working closely with other developers and engineers, this role will work on design and build of data flows and transformation processes within on-premises, as well as cloud data environments. The developer will work closely with Data Governance and Data Engineering teams to prepare data for business intelligence, analytics, and reporting using standard and structured DevOps/DataOps, as well as governance processes. Additionally, the developer will support less experienced developers in automation of data processes, and improving existing workflows to support self-service analytics across the organization, including conversion and migration of manual business processes into more robust automations. The developer will also be responsible for supporting testing of data flow designs to ensure the data marts update in a timely manner and error-free.

EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Deep understanding of modern data architectures (data mesh, lakehouse, event-driven pipelines)

  • Proficiency managing modern data platforms such Azure Data Lakehouse (ADLS, ADF, Databricks, etc.)

  • Proficiency managing DevOps/CI-CD practices as they relate to data pipelines and cloud infrastructure

  • Proficiency managing SQL databases

  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM Templates

  • Proficiency managing and developing in Microsoft Power Platform

  • Epic Cogito administration knowledge a plus

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Gathers requirements and business process knowledge in order to transform the data in a way that is geared towards the needs of end users.

  • Partner with business and data analysts, as well as business power users, to understand needs and create repeatable solutions and insights.

  • Architect automated data workflows, database views, and data marts that streamline data processing and reduce manual intervention.

  • Propose appropriate design solutions for building impactful data products.

  • Use expert knowledge in designing, implementing, and continuously expanding data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities, ensuring that the data architecture is scalable and maintainable.

  • Review and revise existing data flows, views, and workflows to improve processing speed, scalability, and performance.

  • Collaborate with Data Governance team to ensure that data assets adhere to established data governance standards and align with business definitions for system-approved data assets.

  • Sets up appropriate monitoring and notification for potential issues within data pipelines, flows, and processes.

  • Expert at investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving issues while communicating with relevant parties.

  • Propose and implement processes and structures for thorough testing of data solutions and production processes, following DevOps and DataOps best practices under departmental guidelines.

  • Participate in Agile scrum development process to build data products in a fast yet reliable way for iterative delivery to realize immediate business value.

  • Train and mentor junior developers on the team, promoting best practices in data modeling, transformation, and automation.

  • On an as needed and assigned basis, provides expert maintenance and support of legacy and production processes and products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field

  • Preferred Master's Degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field

  • 7 years IT and related disciplines of programming, applications, and databases with hands-on experience with database design and development on SQL Server or Oracle Required

  • 7 years SQL, Python and related data programming languages as well as ETL methodologies and tools such as Informatica and SSIS. Required

  • 5 years Data warehousing and database modeling/design using industry standard tools and concepts. Required

  • 3 years Experience with cloud data tools/technologies, especially Microsoft Azure and Databricks Required

  • 5 years Experience with Epic EMR databases (Clarity and Caboodle) and/or Workday ERP Reporting Preferred

  • EPIC or Other Application Certification or Accreditation (Cert Exam passed in no more than three attempts) - EPIC Epic Cogito Fundamentals and Epic Clarity and/or Caboodle data model or related certification - if and as required by role
