The Manager is responsible for developing and executing data governance processes to improve the quality of Business Banking data. The focus will be to ensure all compliance activities relating to Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) and the Data Office are established and up to date ensuring they meet BCBS 239 principles and Data Office governance policies.

 

The Manager will work closely with Sr. Managers and Director to support root cause analysis of data quality issues and data stewards throughout Scotiabank on project related deliverables.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the creation and on-going sustainment of data governance standards by working closely with the Data Office
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining data quality, issue management, change management standards, and operational processes by analyzing data quality issues through a workflow from identification, prioritization, documentation, tracking, escalation, and remediation of data quality issues
  • Support identification and development of Critical Data Elements, data quality rules and thresholds to perform proactive data profiling activities
  • Identify and monitor data quality issues using existing tools and manually from stakeholders.
  • Be able to conduct detailed root cause analysis and investigations of data quality issues through performing SQL queries. The root cause analysis will include assessment of issues, detailed data analysis to determine priority, root cause identification, impacts and application owners
  • Responsible for quarterly data lineage updates and all Data Office activities relating to CDE registration, report registration, etc.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate owners of data sources and/or project managers to track the planned remediation of data quality issues including international data sources
  • Participate in process re-engineering opportunities to improve the data quality issue investigation and remediation process
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key functional stakeholders (Risk, Finance, IT, Operations, Business Units, Data providers, Data Consumers) to initiate, prioritize, design & deliver high-visibility data quality projects.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Good understanding of Scotiabank Global Risk Management credit information systems, processes, policies, and data governance leading practices.
  • The role requires knowledge of Enterprise and Regulatory reporting including an awareness of emerging regulatory requirements impacting changes &/or enhancements to available data (i.e. RDARR, AIRB).
  • Sound knowledge of banking financial products, including policies, market conventions and valuation methods, risk management methodologies and best practices is required.
  • The role requires strong communication skills and inter-personal skills to influence and clearly communicate complex issues effectively to ensure key stakeholders understand risks and priorities
  • Ability to write SQL queries
  • Experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Spanish speaking is an asset
  • Collibra knowledge is an asset
