Business Applications Administrator

This job is eligible for relocation assistance to Colorado Springs.

Do you have experience with supporting, maintaining, and managing the administration of technology systems and applications, as well as with data management and pipeline development? Are you interested in learning about energy trading, settlements, and risk management while supporting systems and applications that support the success of Colorado Springs Utilities' mission to deliver safe, reliable, and competitively priced energy to our customers? We are hiring a Business Applications Administrator to administer and develop IT services and software solutions utilized in energy commodity markets. You will be a liaison between system users and technical programming support to maximize software effectiveness; support the integrity, flow, and quality of data across trading and enterprise data platforms; and assist with creating and maintaining process documentation, work development racking, and data retention schedules.

What You'll be Doing

  • Providing critical support for Energy Trading and Risk Management Systems (ETRMs) and routine day-to-day maintenance and administration of multiple systems and applications
  • Developing and maintaining queries, reports, and scripts for data validation and transformation
  • Working with technical system support and internal stakeholders to maintain and optimize the performance of applications
  • Supporting planning, testing, and reviewing of new software patches and releases, including working with IT professionals and vendors to implement into production
  • Providing daily assistance, guidance, and training to staff and users in the use of systems and databases while also troubleshooting any issues encountered and escalating with vendors for resolution
  • Assisting with back-end data and system connectivity for a wide range of tools and applications
  • Assisting with process documentation development, maintenance and work development, and ticket tracking

Who You Are

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing, maintaining, and managing the administration of technology systems and applications
    • Experience with ETRMs is highly valued, preferably with PCI, OATI, Horizon/Allegro, and/or QPTM
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL tools, or cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks) is valued
  • Proficiency with programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, PowerShell, Java, VBScript) is valued
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Statistics, or a related field is valued
  • Knowledge of electric and gas utility operations, including power production, power delivery, and related fuel and power market operations, is valued
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational groups while looking for opportunities to improve our systems and processes
  • Strong detail orientation, organizational skills, and a drive to document workflow processes
