POSITION OVERVIEW

Global Atlantic Financial Company (a subsidiary of Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited) is seeking a candidate for the position of Associate, Enterprise Financial Planning & Analysis in New York, NY.  Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and expand enterprise financial forecast models and dashboards on financial proforma under varies account regimes such as US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or Statutory within cloud-based analytics platforms to facilitate deeper understanding and tracking of business performance relative to expectations.
  • Assist in capital budgeting and capital allocation management framework to support the firm’s business growth.
  • Assist in quantifying and reviewing of the financial impacts of strategic initiatives to the organization and business units.
  • Perform analysis on large underlying financial data sets using programming language (e.g. Python) to extract business intelligence and facilitate the decision-making progress.
  • Support the preparation of presentations to senior management including the Board of Directors.
  • Interface with multiple upstream and downstream stakeholders across the organization to define business requirements, develop and test financial projection models.
  • Serve as liaison to the model to providing insights across a wide range of drivers for the projections (Investments, Risk, and Actuarial).
  • 40 hours/wk; Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm; The expected annual base salary for this New York, NY, United States-based position is $115,731 to $118,450.28.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in financial projections or related role.
  • Prior work experience must include three (3) of years of experience in the following:
  • Working in financial services industry, in insurance, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, or actuarial fields.
  • Applying accounting and corporate financial framework knowledge to analyze model’s results.
  • Understanding how databases are structured, streamline data sources and build ETL processes.
  • Improving controls on dataflow and processes for both internal and external reviews.
  • Analyzing various financial input collected to understand and reconcile the differences.
  • Designing and building financial forecast models (either based in Excel or in cloud-based analytics platform) on income statement and balance sheet by applying complex accounting logic on large investment and actuarial raw data sets using VBA and Python.
  • Analyzing historical financial statements and reverse engineering the model assumptions by calculating the metrics including ROA (Return on Asset), the investment return and expenses margin, and risk-based capital ratio.
  • Creating model documentations that provide a detailed explanation of the rationale, assumptions, tests, data flow diagram and other analyses to mitigate model risks and improve the efficiency of various model governance.
  • Developing dashboards and frameworks within analytics platform to quantify and track financial implications of strategic initiatives to the organization.
