Compensation
$83,280 – $99,000 annually

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
Identify, process, cleanse, and verify internal and external data sources for reporting, dashboard development, and analysis.
Maintain and organize databases, ensuring accuracy by reconciling data across multiple sources.
Extend company data with third-party sources as needed, ensuring data integrity for decision-making.
Develop and maintain reports and visualizations to support data-driven decisions across divisions.
Provide actionable insights and analysis for Medical, Provider, and Government Affairs divisions, addressing strategic questions.
Track and report performance metrics, handle ad-hoc analytics requests, and automate reporting processes.
Analyze and resolve issues related to provider practices, such as over/underutilization and aberrant billing, through data analysis.
Manage file transfers between BCBSKS and external entities, including BCBSA, KDHE, and vendors.
Utilize SQL, Excel, Python, R, Tableau, and SPSS for analyzing internal and external healthcare data.
Implement automated data processes to enhance efficiency.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures for medical, reimbursement, and administrative matters.
Monitor healthcare trends to assess impacts on medical management activities and policies.
Participate in corporate projects and committees related to analytics systems and initiatives.
Maintain expertise in analytics software and seek opportunities to improve data sources and methods.
Stay informed on industry best practices and trends in health analytics.
Lead the corporate Ad Hoc Client Committee and represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional teams.
Serve as a technical resource for staff on data systems, analytics methodologies, and contract policies.
Provide training on data systems and post-payment health analytics to departmental and divisional staff.
Support Health Analytics department objectives and coordinate efforts across internal and external teams.
Recommend changes to improve the operation and organization of health analytics systems.
What you need
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Well-developed human relations and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to organize and prioritize activities weekly and monthly as well as the ability to plan, schedule and complete activities on a quarterly basis.
Ability to understand highly technical medical procedures and terminology, data analysis techniques and methodologies, and computer systems concepts and programming applications along with the ability to apply such skills in understanding and developing workable solutions to problems in a complex health care environment.
Requires expert knowledge of provider, claim, and membership data requirements for creation of reporting and business analytics.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in technology, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, risk management, economics, or related field.
In lieu of a degree minimum eight (8) years progressive in a technology, statistics, actuarial science, applied mathematics, financial economics, data structures and system applications or system mainframe applications in a DB2 environment is required.
