Junior Data Manager

The Junior Data Manager is responsible for managing various information technology projects, ensuring the implementation of data validation workflows, and utilizing data management systems in accordance with CTEH guidelines for data quality, completeness, and accessibility. This role ensures that CTEH employees have the necessary information to make informed decisions and report accurately to internal and external clients.

ACTIVITIES/TASKS/SCOPE
Become familiar with digital datasets from various sources and internally developed tools used to assess data quality and build databases
Become familiar with relational theory and database management systems such as MSSQL and PostgreSQL
Become familiar with database administration tools
Become familiar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS)
Become familiar with internal technical standards in order to provide technical support for employee or customer issues
Gain basic understanding of meteorological data sources and their relevance to various service lines.
Gain basic understanding of relevant laboratory services to monitor, process, and provide feedback regarding laboratory deliverables
Interact and collaborate with internal and external clients to understand data specifications and resolve data quality issues
Utilize and modify existing internal quality control measures to investigate and resolve data quality issues, escalating situations according to departmental processes
Utilize and modify work products produced with data visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI to empower internal experts with tools for data driven decision making
Utilize and modify work products produced with geographic information systems (GIS) software such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro or QGIS to empower internal experts with tools for data driven decision making.
Produce metrics and reports, integrating multiple data streams to consistently provide deliverables on time and within budget, conforming to internal and external client expectations
Demonstrate a professional attitude toward clients, customers, and co-workers, reflecting favorably on the company
Support other service areas as assigned and under appropriate supervision
Maintaining data validation workflows
Utilizing data management systems to uphold data quality, completeness, and accessibility standards
Learn industry leading software tools for data visualization, geospatial analysis, and database and process management
Providing data management support to CTEH employees to ensure they are equipped with the information they need
Participating in cross-departmental training and field operations
Traveling on short notice to different project sites to provide on-site data management support
Participating in an on-call rotation, which may require travel, overtime, and weekend work
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CREDENTIALS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, GIS, environmental science, or related scientific field preferred
0 – 2 years of experience as a data manager or equivalent position with previous employer
Proficiency in Windows-based platforms and the Microsoft Office suite is required
Advanced computer and data management skills within a Windows-based environment are essential

Provides support to senior data management team members
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English
