The WTSC Strategy Team focuses on collaborative problem-solving, strategic analysis, and analytical support to directly impact billions of dollars of AT&T’s cost structure and future investments, while driving best-in-class practices across AT&T’s vast supply chain and wireline networks.

 

About the Role

As a Principal Data/AI Engineer at AT&T, you will architect, develop, and optimize scalable, high-performance solutions that transform complex data into actionable insights. Leveraging cutting-edge Data & AI technologies and advanced software engineering methodologies, you will drive informed decision-making and business growth through collaboration with diverse teams.

Note: This position requires special approval from the Compensation Job Family Owner.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Development: Lead the creation of scalable Data & AI applications with automation, version control, and CI/CD best practices. Implement comprehensive testing and oversee deployment, ensuring security and reliability.
• Data Engineering & Analytics: Translate use cases into robust data models and pipelines while maintaining data integrity with statistical and AI methods.
• API & Microservices: Architect secure, scalable microservices and APIs, ensuring usability, security, and thorough documentation.
• Platform Optimization: Select and implement optimal cloud and on-premise technologies, focusing on scalability, performance monitoring, and cost efficiency.
• Technology Expertise: Utilize Data & AI tools (Spark, Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake), programming languages (Java, Scala, Python, SQL), API frameworks (HTTP/REST, GraphQL), and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).

 

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Scientific Computing, or related field (BS/BA preferred)
• 7+ years of relevant experience in data engineering and AI
• Required certifications in specific areas
• Proven ability to lead complex projects, influence executive decisions, and mentor peers
• Expertise in managing complex data and AI challenges to solve major business problems

 

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary Range: $158,200 - $237,400 USD annually (based on location, experience, and education)
