AI Governance & Assurance Principal

Join HP’s Privacy Innovation & Assurance team to design, build and provide assurance over AI and related technologies across HP’s global footprint.

HP has a long-standing history of industry leadership in privacy and data protection and the Privacy Innovation & Assurance team continues that tradition of leadership.

We are looking to enhance our capabilities to provide privacy assurance over the AI solutions, features and capabilities that we build and integrate with. 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong understanding of AI technologies and risks and have a background in cybersecurity, risk management or auditing in addition to experience in both documenting and testing of technical and process controls.  This role will not be responsible for directly designing or implementing AI technologies but will work with others to ensure that appropriate privacy controls are designed, implemented and operating effectively within AI systems and related processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating assurance activities over a range of AI processes and technologies against internal and external AI compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with multiple functions and project teams to promote AI assurance and drive the improvement process for the design and evidence collection for controls throughout the AI lifecycle.
  • Monitor and analyze AI projects to identify potential compliance issues and recommend solutions.
  • Coordinates the activities of associated project teams; tracks progress against established plans and makes recommendations for alterations or updates to relevant management.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and results within the assigned project/program.
  • Supports program communications, including creation of status reports and summaries, tracking escalations and resolutions of issues, coordinating stakeholder meetings and updates, and updating project and program plans.
  • Facilitates root cause analysis investigations where instances of non-compliance are identified and supports the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Represents the business at relevant events, forums, boards.
  • Leverages recognized domain expertise, business acumen, and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new AI controls related technologies and practices into projects and activities in the business.
  • Stays up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the AI and Assurance fields, ethics, and recommends innovative solutions.
  • Acts as a functional manager within area of expertise, developing strategy and setting functional policy and direction.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to lower-level employees, thus ensuring the realization of operational and strategic plans.
  • Partners across teams to track and mitigate risks

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Quality Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically, will have 10+ years of work experience, preferably including some time spent in a cybersecurity, risk management or auditing role, or a related field or an advanced degree with commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Skills: Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and stay current with industry developments in data protection and AI policy and controls.
