Team and mission

We are looking for an experienced and independent senior engineer to help us achieve our vision of providing leading data and software solutions. You will be responsible for our core development build and operations platform working with our team in Zurich. We are seeking a professional with a strong interest in building and maintaining centralized offerings, which streamline team workflows and drive standardization across the company. Your mission is to remove friction in developing and operating applications, enabling teams to build and scale efficiently.

Your responsibility

In this role, your main responsibilities are:

  • Enhancing and streamlining developer workflows and tools
  • Optimizing and updating build systems and templates for efficiency (e.g., Bazel, rules_js, and rules_ts)
  • Ensuring that the software stack uses state-of-the-art technologies relevant to our context
  • Building automation to simplify service and host management
  • Administering and supporting critical development tools and integrations (e.g., Git, artifact store, CI/CD)
  • Participating in our on-duty rotation to handle monitoring and incident response as needed 

Our technologies

  • Build system: Bazel (rules_js, rules_ts, rules_oci)
  • Development infrastructure: Gitea, Drone, Renovate, Harbor, Weblate, Bazel, JIRA (cloud)
  • Development stack: TypeScript on Node.js / Vite with React, GraphQL, Prisma on PostgreSQL
  • Core operations: Docker (Compose) on Debian (cloud VMs), Ansible with GitOps
  • Upcoming: Java (Spring Boot) enterprise stack, Python data stack, Terraform

Qualifications

Your profile

  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and running applications
  • Experience with internal platform development and/or Bazel (or a similar build system) is a plus
  • Passionate about your work, eager to learn new technologies and committed to ongoing growth
  • Strong communication skills in English; German is a plus
