American Express is on an exciting third-party transformation led by a high-energy, delivery-focused team delivering third party security diligence oversight, contracting assistance, and monitoring capabilities. As part of Amex Technology Risk and Information Security (TRIS), Third Party Security is responsible for driving cyber risk reduction at Amex third parties to minimize exposure or disruption across the Amex enterprise and external partners. The Third-Party Security Architecture and Engineering team is responsible for designing and engineering security capabilities that enhance visibility and control over third-party footprint within the organization. We collaborate closely with other Staff Architects, Cyber Analytics, Infrastructure Security, and other TRIS teams to develop and implement solutions that streamline operational processes. 

In this position the Information Security Specialist will mentor, support, and assist the analysts with their tasks, roles, and responsibilities within the team. Additionally, they will be focused on the tools, solutions, and services that the team leverages as part of the program, to review, recommend and optimize current capabilities while continuing to drive further automation, team effectiveness and support enablement of new feature functionality, working in partnership across various other TRIS teams. 

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the firms third party footprint 
  • Driving risk reduction to minimize exposure to the enterprise through increased visibility
  • Identify opportunities and build automation to optimize transparency and risk decision making
  • Produce a centralized view that showcases how third parties interact with American Express infrastructure by identifying, documenting, and analyzing their footprint and data flows  
  • Serve as the IS expert to assist key stakeholders, business unit leaders, and others in understanding the IS processes and requirements for third parties.
  • Identify exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges.
  • Provide thought-leadership for all TRIS domains delivering an integrated view for the enterprise and partnering to deliver third-party security elements across the TLM lifecycle.
  • Assist in the strategic development and maturation of a robust third-party cyber risk operating model that enables the enterprise to develop and implement security solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology, and threat drivers. 

Required Skills/Experience 

  • Knowledge of network architecture, proxy infrastructure, and programs to support network access and enablement, Identity Access and Management (IAM), Public Cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS etc.), Machine Learning and Generative AI. 
  • Understanding of how Third Parties connect to the American Express Network and beyond.  
  • Experience in designing and building automation tools in Python or any other programming language.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and work with new technologies such as Qlik, Slack APIs, etc. 
  • Experience as a technical contributor by participating in architecture design, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and solving problems in a programmatic way to enhance automation capabilities. 
  • Experience in audit, compliance, risk management, and contracting  
  • Strong communications skills, in both written and verbal form. Highly articulate both verbally and in written form, able to interact at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Strong understanding of IS risk and differences between Technology, IS, and other types of operational risk.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across the enterprise to drive consensus during challenging initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Amex’s Third-Party Environment which can include Third-Party Lifecycle Management, Process Unity, and TPSO (Third Party Security Overwatch) program and reporting.
  • Knowledge & understanding of third-party related data sources and attributes.
  • Knowledge & understanding of cyber security threats, risks, vulnerabilities, governance, and compliance 
  • Proven problem solver with ability to provide in-depth analysis of complex problems, manage risk and make quick decisions.
  • Must possess the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • 4 years of experience in Information Security or related field operational roles with increase of responsibilities and scope at American Express. 

Educational Requirement: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Information Security Certifications including but not limited to; CISSP; CISM; MCTS; MCP; CCNA.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
