Introduction

GlobalFoundries is seeking a highly skilled OPC/Patterning Solution Engineer to lead the development, Fab-to-Fab transfer, and qualification of Optical Proximity Correction (OPC) modeling and Resolution Enhancement Technology (RET) solutions across multiple technology nodes.

Key Responsibilities 

• Design, generate, and assemble OPC test patterns for process development, model calibration, RET verification, and Fab-to-Fab process matching. 

• Deliver accurate, stable, and predictive OPC models, including sampling plan preparation, wafer data analysis, model calibration, and performance evaluation. 

• Calibrate advanced models such as SRAF, resist 3D, etch, and rigorous physical models for relevant applications. 

• Develop and implement customized RET solutions at various stages of technology development. 

• Perform model verification, etch bias analysis, and process compensation for new technology node development, Fab transfers, and process matching. 

• Develop and maintain OPC techfiles to support new process development and continuous improvement initiatives, including resolution of lithographic weak points and yield enhancement across fabs. 

• Collaborate with design rule, lithography, etch, modeling, and infrastructure engineers to deliver optimal computational lithography solutions. 

• Conduct root cause analysis of printing defects and yield-limiting hotspots using industry-standard tools. 

• Consolidate and document best practices and workflows for OPC modeling, RET, and metrology. 

• Lead R&D initiatives, including patent generation and technical publications, to advance modeling and patterning efficiency. 

• Manage projects, interface with vendors, and provide mentorship to junior engineers. 

• Ensure all activities are performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) requirements. 

• Support and contribute to additional projects and assignments as required. 

Required Qualifications 

• PhD with 4+ years, MS with 6+ years, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience. 

• Degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mathematics, Physical Science, or Computer Science. Optical background preferred. 

• Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, lithography, OPC, design rules, and mask technologies. 

• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments and scripting languages such as Python, PERL, Tcl/Tk, Lua, and Matlab. 

• Experience with EDA tools such as Mentor Graphics, Brion, and Synopsys. 

• Self-motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, and an effective team player. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in object-oriented programming and software debugging. 

• Familiarity with machine learning techniques, design rule development, and mask data preparation. 

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
