The company
Imagine a world where every small business has the power to thrive. That's the world we're building at iwoca. Small businesses aren't just statistics – they're the heartbeat of our communities, the character of our high streets, and the engine of our economy. Since 2012, we've revolutionised how these businesses access finance, turning what was once a lengthy, frustrating process into something remarkable: funding that's fast, flexible, and actually works for modern businesses.
Our impact speaks for itself: we've provided billions in funding to over 150,000 businesses across Europe, making us one of the continent's leading fintech innovators. But we're just getting started. Our mission? To empower one million businesses with the financial tools they deserve.
We combine cutting-edge technology and data science with genuine human understanding to make finance feel less like a barrier and more like a superpower. Whether it's managing cash flow or seizing unexpected opportunities, we ensure businesses get the funds they need – often within minutes.
The team
The Tech Talent team hires for iwoca’s Tech, Analytics, and Product teams. We take a data-led approach that prioritises calibre over headcount, and we value quality, fairness, transparency, and consistency.
Our everyday tools include Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, and Welcome to the Jungle (Otta), but we’re always experimenting — whether with GenAI, sourcing automation, or new workflows — to improve how we hire and raise the bar on talent.
The role
You’ll run hiring processes across iwoca’s Tech, Analytics, and Product teams. That includes sourcing, interviews, offers, and onboarding. You’ll work directly with hiring managers and senior leaders to make sure we hire people who raise the bar.
Own the full hiring process:
Source top-tier engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
Use data to guide your approach.
Run structured interviews that test both technical and communication skills.
Manage pipelines, timelines, and candidate experience to keep hiring on track.
Partner with hiring managers to raise the bar:
Help define what “good” looks like for each role and team.
Set clear standards, share evidence, and push back when needed.
Improve how we hire:
Spot problems early and make things better.
Test and refine sourcing methods and tools.
Use metrics and feedback to improve process quality.
The requirements
Essential:
At least 10 years’ experience hiring back-end engineers. Ideally that will include experience in high-growth, product-focused environments and recruiting for roles using technologies like Python, Django, Rust, Golang, and relational databases.
Confidence with assessing the complexity and impact of a candidate’s work — not just what they built, but how and why it mattered.
Comfortable running semi-technical interviews that test how candidates apply knowledge, explain their thinking, and collaborate in practice.
Ability to prioritise across multiple roles while keeping documentation and hiring data accurate.
Attention to detail when working with Google Sheets, ATS dashboards, and reporting tools.
Ability to build trust through active listening, thoughtful questions, and clear communication with candidates and stakeholders.
Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ideally Ashby) to manage pipelines, automate workflows, and keep hiring visible and on track.
Bonus:
Experience hiring for other technical roles such as data scientists (especially those using probabilistic models), data engineers, product managers, or front-end/full-stack developers.
Comfortable using data to understand what’s working and suggest improvements.
Fluency with AI tools that support sourcing or decision-making.
The salary
We expect to pay from £70,000 - £90,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
