Family Health Initiatives (FHI), a subsidiary of The Cooperative, is a nonprofit organization committed to advancing public health and improving the quality of life for individuals and families through data-driven programs, research, and collaboration. The Information Strategy and Analytics department supports FHI’s mission by developing actionable insights through robust data collection, analysis, and reporting.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a Research Data Analyst Intern to join our Information Strategy and Analytics team. This intern will play a critical role in supporting public health research and program evaluation efforts through data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and passionate about using data to address community health challenges.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data cleaning, validation, and organization of datasets related to maternal and child health, reproductive health, and other public health topics.
  • Conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analyses under supervision.
  • Create data visualizations (charts, tables, dashboards) to communicate key findings.
  • Support the preparation and writing of reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Collaborate with program staff and researchers to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure data privacy and ethical research standards are always upheld.
Requirements
  • Current enrollment in or recent graduate of a program in Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis methods and research design.
  • Experience with Excel and at least one data analysis software or programming language (e.g., R, SPSS).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
